Bucks To Buck Cancer
The Goal is $30,000 and 100% participation by all teams! We can do this!
The goal for the 2010 Oregon Cancer Ski Out is very simple and very easy to achieve if we all do our part! In 2009, x% of the teams participated in "Bucks to Buck" and we raised over $20,000.00. This year we want to raise the bar, and we're aiming for 100% participation from all teams!
For those of you not familiar with what Bucks to Buck Cancer means, each participant is asked to individually raise funds to benefit OCSO causes. 100% of these funds will be directed to our beneficiaries.
Back again this year is a special award category for the top fundraising team and the top individual.
Skiers: To help make our 2010 goal a reality, you're encouraged to get an early start on "Bucks to Buck" donations! Contact Nancy to send donations in early, and we'll make sure you and your team get credit for them.
Awards
Announcement of Race winners and award presentations will be held Monday in the Finish Line, as close to 3:00 p.m. as possible. We will have our Spontaneous Auction while we wait for race results.
The Race
You will skiing/snowboarding two runs each on two adjacent courses. Each of the two courses will be skied by a pacesetter before racing begins each day. The pacesetter establishes the course time on each course. The difference between your time and the pacesetter's time is your handicap. For you mathematicians, the formula is (skier time - pacesetter time)x100.
At the end of Day One, the handicaps of the 5 members of each team will be added together for each run, then the sums of each run will be added together to establish your total team handicap for the day.
Day Two will be conducted the same as Day One. When the handicaps from Day One are tallied, the team whose Day Two total team handicap comes closest to their Day One total team handicap wins the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 teams.
Gate Times Day One: 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Gate Times Day Two: To Be Announced
Cowboy Up for Cancer Party
Bring your Stetson and your cowboy boots, and get ready for a rollin' good time! Dress for the occasion — this is a "Cowboy Up" Party — so "cowboy-up" with your best western duds.
A full dinner buffet will be served in the Columbia Room at the Best Western Hood River Inn at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday Evening. The Columbia Room is located on the upper level of the hotel and can be reached by using the stairway located near the front desk.

Oregon Cancer Ski Out would like team participants to bring an item to include in the Spontaneous Auction - something you or your company makes or offers, or something from someone you know who has a product or service that can be auctioned. If you're willing, we'll even auction the shirt off your back! The Spontaneous Auction will be held while waiting for the race results. A sure to be irresistible item will be going up for auction. We're hoping this will be a lot of fun and yet another way to raise money for our causes, but it's going to take your participation to help by bringing an auction item. Let 'er Buck!!
